Insurance
Playing and Coaching members of Selby Rugby Union Football Club are covered by the Rugby Football Union’s Compulsory Insurance Scheme. This Scheme provides cover in the event of death from accidental bodily injury and permanent total disability while playing or training. Further details of the cover can be found at: http://www.englandrugbyinsurance.co.uk/personal-accident
The RFU Compulsory Scheme does not cover any injury other than an injury that causes permanent total disability. The Board of Directors of SRUFC encourages all players to take out insurance, at their own expense, to cover themselves for the cost of medical treatment for serious injuries and loss of earnings while injured (this is particularly appropriate for those who may be self-employed or do not have access to lengthy periods of employer-funded sick pay).
There are several companies who offer this type of cover and their details can be found online or via an insurance broker. The annual premium is determined by the level of cover purchased and, often, can be paid in instalments. The policies offer the flexibility to balance the level of protection required against the premium that one wishes to pay. It is possible to find basic cover costing less than the price of two or three beers per month!
Club Coaches and Match Officials are covered by the RFU Club Match Officials & Coaches’ Liability.
Club Administrators are covered by the RFU Insurance for Administrators.
