Selby Rugby Club has grown considerably since it was established in 1933 and at its core it has always been run by its key members. To keep the momentum going, the Club has identified certain roles that would benefit from volunteers joining and being part of this social but competitive club.

The Club currently runs four senior men’s teams, a fledgling women’s side, regular 02 touch & pass sessions and has a very strong youth section for 5 to 18 year olds, including junior girls teams for under 13’s, 15’s and 18’s. To even maintain this takes many volunteers, for which we are very thankful, but to continue to sustain and grow our Club we need to expand and recruit to more administrative roles throughout the Club.

Many hands make light work and we need more who are willing to step up and make a difference. Most of the existing Board at Selby are fulfilling two, three or even more roles – they do it because they enjoy it, because they want the club to succeed and if only more people got involved, we’d all enjoy it even more!

Successful rugby clubs are more than just victorious teams on the pitch. Players and coaches are vitally important but so are the many dedicated volunteers who work hard behind the scenes to help a club function.

You don’t have to be a rugby expert to get involved. Whether you’re a current player, someone who has hung up their boots or a person who has never picked up the oval ball, you could be a valued rugby volunteer.

We will also offer individuals the chance, through RFU courses, first aid courses, referee courses etc to ‘rubber stamp’ and help fulfil that role and gain a sense of achievement. Plus, automatically be part of the club and all that entails.
